What exactly is a himmel?

I had a curious thought at 22 years old. If dragons were eagles, what would their parrot counterparts look like? And so my himmels were born in 2010. Now, 16 years later, I’m publishing a book featuring one!

Himmels are an homage to Asian style dragon, jackals, and cats. They are sexually dimorphic, horde herbs, and worship the moon. Not only do they pass their knowledge onto their children at birth, they have a natural affinity to wind and water. While himmels cannot control water, their control of air allows them to fly, to coat themselves in shimmering armor, and as a weapon that can split steel.
